Stay safe in the sun this summer by choosing a sunscreen with a high SPF. Some doctors no longer believe 15 is high enough, and are recom- mending a rating of 30 or higher to assure adequate protection in the real world, as well as in the lab. |
Tan Lines Also, use a product that contains
zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, or Parsol1789 to block both UVA and UVB
rays. Did you know a sunblock labeled water/sweat resistant has to keep
its SPF at least 40 minutes in water? That means that, even r with a water-resistant
product, you need to reapply at least once an hour if you're in the water.
Protect all those tiny, tender
places by remembering to apply sunscreen to these often-overlooked parts:
ears, lips, soles of feet, hair part and into hairline, around eyes, both
sides of hands, and under your t-shirt (unless you wash your clothes with
Rit Sun Guard, which washes in a UVB protection of 30). |
. Sun can damage more than your
skin, too. UV rays can cause your hair to become dry, brittle, and dull.
Protect your hair with products containing Parsol MCX, Parso11789, Panthenol,
or Phytantriol. Exposure to sun can also increase your risk of cataracts
and macular degeneration, so invest in a good pair of sunglasses that
have a UVA/UVB protection ratinQ.
