FREEZE! |
|
In the unlikely event of a freeze this winter, here are a few things you can do to protect your pool: * Remove your backwash hose, except when backwashing. This allows your valve to drain any trapped water before it has a change to freeze. * Make sure that your equipment is running continuously when the temperature is below 35 degrees. * The freezeguard on your timeclock has a thermostat so you can set the correct temperature. However, you should never rely solely on the freezeguard. * If you lose electricity during a freeze or are nervous about leaving town during cold weather, drain your equipment, as long as it is above the level of the pool. * Keep your pool at the proper level so you won't have a problem if outside pipes and hoses freeze. * As long as the temperature is above 35 degrees, reduce your pump running time to conserve energy. |
* In extreme cold, your pool may go without chlorine, but it is important to keep your pH at the proper level. * Pressure gauges have a tendency to freeze in extreme cold, so do not worry if you see an unusually high or low reading. Check your flow at the inlets to check pressure.
Call our service department at 346-4778 to have your equipment checked out before cold weather hits! Our Preventative Maintenance Special is only $79.99. This includes cleaning and re-charging the filter, checking out the heater and cleaner, emptying all baskets, and checking equipment for leaks.
Want to extend your swim season? If you don't have a heater and would like to add one, please call our service department for an estimate.
